11. Develop the following hints, into a passage: (5)
An intermediate student - careless in studies - father warms him - shaving off his head- completely if he fails in the exam - boy loves his fair hair - works hard and passes the exam - then -mother reveals her offering of his hair to God - boy sets disappointed and becomes sick - no escape from tonsure even after recovery.
12. Read the following paragraph and answer. the questions: (5)
My own recollection is that I: had not any high regard for my ability. I used to be astonished whenever I won prizes and scholarships. But very jealously guarded my character. The least little blemish drew tears from my eyes. When merited, or seemed to the teacher to merit, a rebuke, it was unbearable for me. I remember having once received corporal punishment. I did not so much mind the punishment, as the fact that it was considered my desert. I wept piteously. That was when I. was in the first or second standard. There was another such incident during the time when was in the seventh standard. Derabjji Edulji Gimi was the headmaster then. He was popular among the boys, though he was a disciplinarian.
