UNIT I
1. Answer any TWO questions in about 200 words each : (2 x 5 = 10)
(a) What are the major benefits of being positive?
(b) How can body language depend on the context?
(c) List out the limitations of the SWOC/SWOT analysis.
(d) Why is emotional intelligence important?
UNIT II
2. (a) Write on any ONE of the following : (1 x 5=5)
(i) Every picture tells a story.
(ii) Go the extra mile.
(b) Arrange the jumbled sentences into a meaningful paragraph. (5 xl= 5)
(i) The wolf was flattered and he started playing on the pipe.
(ii) One day when he was making a pipe out of some leaves. A wolf jumped at him and threatened to kill him.
(iii) There once lived a rabbit in a forest close to a village.
(iv) Hearing the terrible noise, a pack of village dogs came and chased the wolf away.
(v) The rabbit praised the skill of the wolf and asked him to play on the pipe.
UNIT III
3. (a) Paraphrase the paragraph given below : (1x5=5)
There are about 200 different types of cancer. They can start in any type of body tissue. What affects one body tissue may not affect another. For example, tobacco smoke that you breathe in may help to cause lung cancer. Overexposing your skin to the sun could cause a melanoma on your leg. But the sun won’t give you lung cancer and smoking won’t give you melanoma. Apart from infectious diseases, most illnesses are 'Multifactorial'. Cancer is no exception. Multifactorial means that there are many factors involved. In other words, there is no single cause for any one type of cancer.
(b) Summarize the paragraph given below : (1x 5=5)
It is wrong to think that city life is altogether unhealthy. Perhaps it was so at one time, nowadays with proper roads, pavements and drainage systems sickness is kept at bay. Cities are planned in such a way as to provide open spaces with parks and playgrounds for the benefit of the dwellers. Even when sickness does strike, there are doctors and hospitals near at hand. This is not the case in the country where people frequently suffer and sometimes die for want of medical facilities.

4. (a) Write a letter on ONE of the two topics : (1 x 5 = 5)
(i) Write a letter to the Municipal Commissioner about the menace created by the street dogs.
(ii) Write a letter to your father requesting him to give you permission to go for an educational tour.
(b) Write an email to any ONE of the following : (1 x.5 = 5)
(i) You have heard the news that your friend has lost his father recently
(ii) Your teacher asked you to conduct College sports day. But you no details about the programme.

5. (a) Prepare a curriculum vitae for the following advertisement : (1 x 5 = 5)
